Not long after, the seven-time Formula 1 champion revealed his intention to create a modern version of the last car signed off by Enzo himself. But before the so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/754355\/lewis-hamilton-wants-design-ferrari-f40\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22754355%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22lewis-hamilton-wants-design-ferrari-f40%22%7D\">\u201cF44\u201d<\/a> comes out to pay tribute to Il Commendatore\u2019s final Prancing Horse, LH is keeping busy outside of work hours by driving the latest hypercar.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/ferrari\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Ferrari<\/a> asked the 40-year-old British racing driver\u00a0to take the F80 for a spin around the company\u2019s Fiorano track in Italy. Fellow Scuderia Ferrari colleague Charles Leclerc joined in on the fun. As you can imagine, both had nice things to say about the company\u2019s most powerful production vehicle ever. LH called it the \u201cfastest road car I\u2019ve ever been in,\u201d a statement coming from someone who drove the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/735878\/amg-one-new-nurburgring-record\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22735878%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22amg-one-new-nurburgring-record%22%7D\">N\u00fcrburgring record-breaking Mercedes-AMG One<\/a>\u00a0with its F1-derived engine.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"sizer lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"\" data-src=\"image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAJCAYAAAA7KqwyAAAAGXRFWHRTb2Z0d2FyZQBBZG9iZSBJbWFnZVJlYWR5ccllPAAAABpJREFUeNpi\/P\/\/PwMlgImBQjBqwLAwACDAAOVfAw9\/ZDvcAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC\"><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;The fastest road car I\u2019ve ever been in!\u201d | Ferrari F80 track day with Charles and Lewis\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ucx241Pho9Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The F1 veteran is even considering buying one: \u201cOkay, I\u2019ve got to order me some of these one day.\u201d Although all 799 cars are spoken for, we\u2019re sure Ferrari can work something out to accommodate Hamilton\u2019s request should he decide to buy an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/ferrari\/f80\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">F80<\/a>. He calls it the \u201cfastest road car Ferrari has done,\u201d adding that he has \u201cnever driven anything like that on the road. This is another level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LH has owned some of the most desirable street-legal cars in the world, including a Pagani Zonda, which he once described as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/258301\/lewis-hamilton-discusses-car-collection\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22258301%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22lewis-hamilton-discusses-car-collection%22%7D\">terrible to drive<\/a> but praised as the best-sounding car thanks to its mighty AMG V-12. The new Ferrari F80 has half the cylinder count, and frankly, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/738175\/ferrari-f80-v6-sound\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22738175%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ferrari-f80-v6-sound%22%7D\">didn\u2019t sound impressive<\/a> a while back around the Imola track.<\/p>\n<p>As for teammate Charles Leclerc, this is not his first rodeo with the F80. The Mon\u00e9gasque has already starred in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/741604\/charles-leclerc-carlos-sainz-ferrari-f80\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22741604%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22charles-leclerc-carlos-sainz-ferrari-f80%22%7D\">video featuring the F80 at Ferrari\u2019s track<\/a>. It happened right after the hypercar\u2019s official debut, so before Hamilton replaced Carlos Sainz Jr. The Spaniard now drives for Williams, but before leaving the Maranello squad, he too hyped up
